10 Ways to Ensure Workouts Happen Everyday

A lot of people don’t see the less ‘glam’ sides of blogging, like the days I sit at a desk on my computer for 8 hours editing video and sending emails. That’s why it’s imperative that I make it a priority to move โ€” here are 20 tips to help inspire me to get off my butt every single day.

TRY A NEW SPORT OR ACTIVITY.  This summer, Jeanine and I committed to golf lessons with Adidas Golf. We’ve had the time of our lives but the sport is insanely challenging and I never realized how important it was to build your core and shoulder strength. Of course, this girl is pretty weak in both of those areas. Adidas HOOKED. US. UP. and they are about to HOOK YOU UP TOO! PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS FOR THE WEEK. On Sunday, map out your weekly workout plan so you know exactly what you’re doing each day. Having a strict plan helps me coordinate the rest of the week and also gives me a time to invite my friends to join with me. Working out with friends is alway more motivating.

SCHEDULE WORKOUTS. Schedule workouts just as you would any other nonnegotiable important meeting. Tell co-workers and family members so they know you’re unavailable during those times. The more routine and strict your workout schedule becomes, the more likely you will keep up with it.

PAY FOR CLASSES AHEAD OF TIME. Sign up and pay for classes ahead of time. It’s much harder to cancel on a class if you’ve already invested the $20.

PREP FOR A WORKOUT. I like to layout my workout clothes, make a snack, and have my ear buds in my purse the night before I workout. This makes dragging my butt to a workout less miserable.

WORKOUT IN THE MORNING. Get your workout done first thing in the morning so your busy schedule doesn’t get in the way of your workout. If you’re not a morning exerciser, wake up early to get 30 minutes of work done so you can steal away later during the day.

DRESS THE PART. Even if you’re not working out first thing, wake up and put on your entire workout outfit including sneakers and your iPhone armband. You’re more likely to make it happen if you’re already ready.

BE OK WITH SHORTER WORKOUTS. โ€” even 15 minutes is better than nothing! The days I don’t really feel like working out, I will go for a quick 15 min. walk or take the stairs.

VARY YOUR INTENSITY. Be OK with less intense workouts. Even a relaxing stretch session counts as moving.

MIX UP YOUR ROUTINE. It’s okay if you can’t always make it to the gym throughout the week. Initiating a more active lifestyle can start with taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or even taking your dog out to play more often. The active lifestyle is what you make it.

I am totally with you about trying a new sport or activity. I absolutely hated all sports and exercise when I was younger – it just wasn’t my cup of tea – and then a few years ago I tried pole dancing and it pretty much changed my life. I suddenly really looked forward to going to my pole classes, and I didn’t really see them as exercise (even though it was working out my entire body!)
Now, I am just starting to get back into pole but I’ve also been running a bit recently, something I would have never have done a few years ago!

I love this advice too. But, what if you don’t have a gym membership. And, at this point, I can’t really afford it. I really want to get in shape though and feel good and healthy about my body, and I am already watching what I am eating, I just finished Whole30. And, I just want to lose inches of belly fat.
